Project-Based Learning

Hello!

My name is Lizzy Ruzicka. This is my fourth year at South City Catholic Academy as the 5th grade teacher.

In 5th grade, we participate in Project-Based Learning.  SCCA’s 5th grade has made dinner into a learning opportunity!  Our most recent science project encouraged students to think critically about their meals asking themselves, “How do we use physical and chemical changes to prepare delicious meals?” Students planned meals, drew models, & identified key concepts of the unit.  Then, they were encouraged to bring their plans home to the kitchen and prepare the meal with their families - yum!
