Mr. Ilya Litvin
Band Director
Ilya Litvin was accepted as Band Director at SCCA. He feels blessed to be a part of this wonderful team. He is excited to build and develop a band, to give the children exciting educational opportunities, and to help them make friends.
Ilya Litvin is currently a Band Director at Our Lady of Sorrows School and Assistant Band Director at St. Joseph School in St. Charles. He is also a trumpet teacher at the Webster University Community Music School and brass instruments instructor at Band Instruments Service Company in St. Charles, Mo. He was also a professor of trumpet at St. Charles Community College from 1999 to 2011.
Before moving to the United States in 1996, Ilya worked as a trumpet player with the Ukrainian Army Choir and Orchestra, the Gnessin Academy of Music Opera Studio and the Moscow Brass Band. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance and Conducting from the Music College by Gnessins in Moscow, Russia and his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the Gnessins Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia. His teachers were legendary trumpet player Timofey Dokshitzer, Vyacheslav Prokopov, and Vladimir Shlepakov.
Since moving to the United States, Ilya has performed with the St. Louis Brass Band and collaborated with local musicians.
Ilya is a passionate teacher. Many of his students have distinguished themselves through local and regional awards and achieved positions in local and regional orchestras and bands such as the St. Louis Youth Symphony Orchestra, the St. Charles Youth Orchestra, and the Missouri All State Honor Band. In addition, his students have received prestigious music scholarships at distinguished music colleges and universities such as Truman University, North- Western University, Yale University and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Ilya resides in St. Louis with his wife Alla Voskoboynikova, Director of Keyboard Studies at University of Missouri – St. Louis and their son, Boris.
