Handwriting Without Tears, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and so much more is taking place in Junior Kindergarten at South City Catholic Academy!
We’ve been enjoying new furniture that arrived right before the Christmas break. The preschool-sized tables and bookshelves have been a wonderful addition to the classroom creating more space, a better flow, and adding a certain calmness to our room.
Students have been practicing writing their names, learning how to write uppercase letters through the Handwriting Without Tears program, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, learning about opposites, rhyming, and becoming authors and illustrators. In math, they have been counting, working on number identification, and recognizing patterns. Junior Kindergarten has been enjoying the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program and learning all about the different parts of the altar and listening to scripture in their own Atrium space. Center play is a huge part of our day. Activities include math, literacy, science, dramatic play, art, fine motor and more!
