If you would like to know about St. Rose Philippine Duchesne ~ just ask a 4th Grade student at South City Catholic Academy.
During the school year, the 4th Grade class at South City Catholic Academy focuses on St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, their classroom charism. The students are excited to travel to the Shrine of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne in St. Charles, Missouri where they are able to validate their work and studies. It is at the Shrine that they are able to observe a beautiful tribute to the French missionary Religious of the Sacred Heart. St. Rose Philippine Duchesne traveled to the United States in 1818 where she established formalized education in Missouri. The children were able to see many artifacts, pictures, and items that belonged to Rose Philippine. They journeyed to various buildings to enjoy the many aspects of her life. As we concluded our visit, the children celebrated the life of this special saint with a prayer service in the chapel.
