Yes! It has been hot but thanks to our well-maintained building, we have been pretty comfortable.
We are so engaged in keeping Christ as our center, that we began this second week of school with a blessing of our backpacks and our hallways. We may be over 200 in enrollment but we “are one Body in Christ.” It is very evident that we are a Catholic school as you enter our building. A large poster of a charism is hanging outside each homeroom. A charism is the patron saint chosen for that classroom. The students will learn how this very ‘ordinary’ person grew in such holiness and goodness through their ‘extraordinary’ way of living.
Each classroom also has an prayer table. It is a special place in the class room. Hopefully it will provide a quiet moment to connect with Jesus, Mary, and the Communion of Saints.
As the primary support teacher, I have the privilege of working with our Junior Kindergarten-4th graders. What an amazing group of children! So far I have been assisting in Kindergarten and 1st grade during their literacy hour. Their teachers provide them with some interesting activities that make learning fun!
My favorite time is greeting the children and their families in the morning at the gym door. They always seem to have a smile or hug for me!
As my older brother Sam used to say…”it doesn’t get any better than this…”
