I am Pat Mongan and I am back for another great year at South City Catholic Academy! My role has changed a bit this year. With the need for fewer students in the classroom, I am teaching first grade in the morning and I love it!! The Makerspace has been transformed into a first grade classroom. We have new tables, new chairs, a whiteboard that fills a whole wall from floor to ceiling, and bright, white cubbies. It is such a happy place!!

In reading, we are introduced to fiction and non-fiction selections. Relating these topics to our everyday living leads to some interesting discussions.

In religion, we are studying the patron saint given to our classroom. St. Peter is the protector and inspiration for the Makerspace. We attend Mass on Thursday morning.

So with our reading class, our literacy hour activities, journal writing and study of religion, our morning is quite busy and goes by quickly.
