Fourth Grade- Ms. Nancy Schweiss

Ms. Nancy Schweiss

4th Grade Teacher

Hello.  My name is Nancy Schweiss.  I will be the 4th grade teacher at South City Catholic Academy.  I am excited and pleased to be part of this groundbreaking endeavor.

I have lived in St. Louis most of my life.  I am single and reside in Affton.   I grew up in a large family, 6 sisters and 3 brothers.  My parents raised us with good Catholic values.  In my time, away from school, I like to hike, read, and of course cheer on our local teams… Cardinals and Blues.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University.   My teaching career started 34 years ago, all within in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  St. Stephen Protomartyr was my first assignment where I taught 3rd grade for 7 years and for the past 27 years at Our Lady of Sorrows.  In those years at O.L.S., I have taught grades, 3, 4, 5, and Science.  I am a certified Religious educator through Paul VI.  Extracurricular activities include Bellarmine Speech Team, Homework Helper, and Yearbook.  I was part of the CSI Science program and STEM Tracker program.

Fourth grade is a transition year for students.  They are leaving primary, where they learn to read, and into intermediate where the focus is reading to learn.  Teaching fourth graders is an enjoyable experience for me.  The children are enthusiastic learners.   The use of technology is a major component in my class.  It enhances the lessons.

I feel truly blessed to be a part of this new experience in my life.  South City Catholic Academy will be an exceptional place to call home.  It will be a wonderful place to help students succeed in life and learn the skills they will need in the future.   As I tell my students, “Do your best and God will do the rest.”
